I am exploring the exciting medium of watercolor in using both direct painting and wet in wet techniques to capture the idea. Many subjects interest me and I try to emphasize a mood or what seems interesting or unique. Most intriguing is the abstract work in which layering creates windows into the surface of the painting, suggesting but not defining. I also like experimenting with color to see how certain combinations set up a vibrancy. Successful paintings happen when everything works. They are the product of years of thought and practice and a few hours of inspiration. My background BA in Art and Education from the University of Puget Sound, MA, in Creative Expression and Elementary Education from the University of Hawaii. I studied at the Corcoran in DC, one year toward a MA in Art at Georgetown University and have taken countless workshops.

CURRENT WORK uses messages through time using the Earth as a metaphor. The metaphor: Using objects as symbols for universal themes. For example, in Prophesy, the tablet becomes part of a natural earth structure symbolizing both the past and the future.
